Clients often asked me to help them create a bedroom that has a luxe boutique hotel look and feel. And I get it – Who doesn’t want a beautiful, comfortable and tranquil escape from our busy routine?
A plush bed with great bedsheets, fluffy pillows, plenty of lighting options to create the perfect ambiance, thoughtfully curated decor, a calming color scheme… These are a few elements you need to create a comforting, sophisticated and restful hotel-inspired bedroom.
Here, I’ve selected three popular Scandinavian hotels and gathered a few items that will help you replicate these beautiful looks at home.
Villa Copenhagen, Denmark
A stunning fusion of modern design and architecture mixed with period features and historical charm. The interior has a contemporary and refined style, and an understated luxury infused with nostalgia. You’ll find rich materials and textures, with a warm and earthy color palette, dark and pale wood, and hints of brass.
This look is about contrasts – Light and dark, old and new.

Runo Hotel, Finland
Designed by rising interior designer Joanna Laajisto, Runo Hotel is elegant and inviting, with a Scandinavian flair. The pared-down and muted color palette clearly nods to nature and creates a serene atmosphere. The style is contemporary and slightly rustic, with classic elements, and simple yet refined materiality and tactility – Oak furniture, glazed ceramic, rich leather, soft linen, natural stones, opal glass, wicker, sheepskin… It provides an intimate and refined feel but in an understated way.
This is a tone-on-tone look inspired by nature, with brown as the foundation of this color scheme. From light creams to deep chocolate, with a generous amount of oak wood.

Hotel St. George, Finland
At Helsinki’s luxurious hotel St George, the look is inviting and relaxed. Milk glass and pastel walls bring softness, and patterned elements add a fun touch. There is a hint of brass, too, and notice also the heavy-weight fabrics on the blinds, chair and bedframe.
It is sophisticated yet sweet and playful.
