50 Shades of Greige: An Elegant Interior in a Perfect Tone-on-Tone Look

, , , , , By Catherine Lazure-Guinard

This styling job by the team of Lotta Agaton Interiors is a great example that a greige look can be lively and interesting. Here, you’ll find shades of sand, clay, wheat, stone… The mix of rich and warm earthy hues bring a calm beauty to an interior, making it serene, sophisticated and modern.

It is a tone-on-tone design scheme that is perfectly executed. Notice accents in black and white; the two colors both being at the opposite ends of the spectrum, help to expand and ground the palette. Textures are wonderful to add depth, interest and variety in a monochromatic décor.

I love the beautiful simplicity in the pictures below – Very inspiring!

My first thought is is how calm and serene this interior makes me feel. The metal chairs on the carpet has beautiful contrast. The fuzzy willow branch in the glass vase reminds me of Japanese floral design and is carried throughout in other rooms. The filtered light through the curtains, and metal chairs is wonderful. I love how the use of light and contrast makes a very simplistic design work. The photograph of the bedroom is simplistic, soft and comforting. It’s like being embraced in a warm hug and being offered a cup of warm tea with macaroons. There’s so much for me to learn and embrace from this design.
