In the midst of a dining room renovation, I’ve been browsing around the web trying to find a new table. I prefer investing in a quality piece that I’ll keep for many years, so it is important to get something that has a modern, but not trendy look; the ability to age well is key. It should also look great with different styles of chairs and be versatile enough to eventually serve as a desk, when the desire to shuffle things up around the house arises. Not an easy task, I can tell you!
And so I came across the Mies Dining Table by Jens Kajus and Claus Jakobsen for Danish brand Million. It was inspired by German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s dictum ’less is more’. I am a big fan of its minimal design, slender legs and architectural quality. I also like how the frame grips the corners of the tabletop – A beautiful detail.
Plus: It is available in a wide range of variants:
– Black steel frame with burgundy linoleum top with oak edges
– Black steel frame with black linoleum top with plywood edges
– Chromed frame with black oak veneer
– Moss green steel frame with white stained oak veneer
– White steel frame with white laminate with oak edges
– Etc.
It is also possible to choose polished Bianca Carrera or black Marquina marble for the tabletop.
I think I might just have found my next dining table. Now the tough part is to choose the colour variant…
