Slice of life: Back in my young adult life, I asked a guy I was dating what his favorite color was. He paused for a moment, thinking about his options, and wholeheartedly answered: “Beige”. I gasped. What kind of person prefers this color over blue, green, yellow, orange, or any other rainbow hue, or even black or grey? To me, beige was boring… Let’s just say his answer didn’t earn him any points with me!
Years later, I now get it – Oh, the irony. Beige is the perfect neutral, warm and earthy. There are so many interesting shades: Nutmeg, sand, oyster, mushroom, clay, camel, flax… It makes it easy to layer and create a great tone-on-tone look. Add textures and wooden touches to the mix, and it is anything but bland. It was seen a lot in Nordic-inspired interiors in the last few years, and it has proven to be timeless. It’s official, beige is here to stay.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite furniture and home accessories to incorporate the serene color into your home.
All sources after the jump.
