A Renovated Swedish-Australian Family Home with Nordic Charm and Simplicity

, , , , , , By Catherine

Take a look at this beautifully renovated historic Victorian row house in Melbourne.

Owned by a Swedish-Australian family of four, the mandate was to create an open and practical layout with a clean, streamlined look. Clare Cousins Architects and Fido Projects collaborated on this renovation, and the result is very inspiring.

The ornate stained-glass window in the entrance as well as the original high baseboards and paneled doors were preserved, adding period details to the understated interior. The white walls and ceilings are a great backdrop used to make the place feel bright and airy. The white-washed floors and the pared-back, soft palette with a restrained use of bright accents definitely has Scandinavian appeal.

The kitchen is a stunner, with the island being quite a standout feature.
