News from Kauniste

Milla from Kauniste recently wrote to us to introduce a new fabric pattern, and we love it! Called Sunnuntai, which means for Sunday in Finnish, the pattern was designed by Matti Pikkujämsä. It is printed on a light beige color and vivid shades of blue for a nice contrast. We’re definitely getting our hands on a pillow case – or two!
About Matti
Matti has graduated from the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Matti’s illustrations reflect the classics of Scandinavian design whilst still taking a fresh, distinguishable approach. His humorous designs often have a nostalgic feel, stemming thoughts of childhood, Finnish countryside and nature. He combines both drawing and painting techniques to create pieces with unique, warm atmosphere.
About Kauniste
Kauniste was created by uniting the talents of young Scandinavian graphic designers and craftsmen. Our aim is to combine the best of both worlds: fresh design and traditional screen printing skills. We work to bring you items that can be used and cherished in the daily life for decades to come. We use water based, solvent free inks, and we are careful not to waste water in production. We use linen mix fabric as the linen makes the fabric durable, it absorbs well moisture and dries fast. Linen leaves practically no surplus waste in production, and it’s qualities only improve with time. We want to make patterns and products that last and keep bringing joy to our home past seasonal trends.
