Muuto presents the best of Scandinavian design in a beautifully soft and cohesive summer collection 2014. The Danish design brand takes inspiration from its own name, which is based on the Finnish word “muutos”, meaning new perspective. Bringing together the most creative and innovative designers in Scandinavia, Muutos approaches classic Nordic design from a new, more personal angle.
I love the pastell colors and rounded shapes of Muuto furniture. All pieces are unobstrusive, and add a gentle yet distinct design element to any room. The new S/S 2014 collection is no exception. My favorite pieces? The classic E27 Pendant Lamp by Mattias Ståhlbom in soft mint makes the list for sure! So does the Stacked Shelving, designed by Julien de Smedt, that Muuto is known for. It’s perfect for displaying treasured books and photos. And a final must-have is the Nerd bar stool made from natural oak and ash wood. Its shape “invites the user to sit on the stool from several angles, helped by the soft, curvy plywood shell”, says designer David Geckeler, proving that Danish simplicity is of course never just simple, it’s always thoughtful.
