Lamp lust: Kaiser Idell

, , , , By Catherine

This fantastic lamp is now celebrating its 80th birthday. It was designed in 1931 by silversmith Christian Dell. Originally a Bauhaus design, the lamp is now a Republic of Fritz Hansen product – The company acquired the license to produce it last year.

Kaiser Idell lamps are made in steel and brass and the lampshades are hand painted in high gloss. The crome-plated lamp elements consist of hand polished and silver-soldered brass. It is characterized by the swivel joint and the dome embossed with “Original Kaiser-idell”. The collection is available in six variations (table-, wall-, floor lamps and pendants), as well as in black, ivory, white, red and green.
