One of our favorite labels from Finland, Ivana Helsinki, made it again to the New York MB Fashion Week! The “Velvet Lake” fall/ winter 2011/ 2012 collection will be presented today at 9pm, Lincoln Center Studio. Inspired by textured landscapes, peacock feathers and the mod aesthetic of the late 60’s. Paola Ivana Suhonen, artist and designer behind the label, hopes to “channel the Scandinavian version of Brigitte Bardot.”
Ivana Helsinki is based on the elements of Paola’s Finnish heritage. She describes her point of view as one built from Scandinavian moods, Slavic melancholy, intense starkness and ballads filled with charming and soulful tones. Paola is revered in the industry as “one to watch” and is the only Scandinavian designer ever to present her collection in the official “IN” show during Paris Fashion Week and New York Fashion Week.
Check out below some moody images of the collection. Lovely!
P.S. I will launch my latest collection of original paintings very soon! If you'd like to find out more, get on my waitlist and I’ll send you a sneak peek soon.
