Harakka and Korpi birds

Iittala’s newest glass designer is the Swede Matti Klenell, whose talent was awarded with the prestigious Ljunggren Design Prize in 2003. He created an exciting new addition to the Iittala Birds collection – A wonderful combination of glass technique and colors.

His birds comprise two or three parts, and the bottom sections is hollow; it can be used as handy little containers to keep jewelry, secret notes and other memories. Adding such functional dimension to Iittala’s beautiful, sculptural birds is a first for the Finnish company.

He designed two bird families for Iittala: The Harakka (Magpie) family combines black, white, and clear glass, while the Korpi (Deep Forest) family, in contrast, is very colorful. Each family has five members, each with their own distinctive character.
