Artist of the month – July

Robert Lucander was born in Finland in 1962. He studied art at the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin, Germany from 1989-1995.

We like the mystery in his paintings, as well that he mostly uses wood as canvas.

Lucander’s work is in various collections, and his public sculptures can be found in Berlin, Jönköping, Sweden, and Helsinki. Since the early 1990s, Lucander has exhibited his work in Europe and the United States. International art publications have also noted the successful Finnish artist.

In Finland, Lucander’s work was last seen in 2001 at the exhibition entitled “Party with attitude – Sait mitä hait” (Party with Attitude – You Got What You Wanted), held in the Amos Anderson Art Museum in Helsinki. Lucander has also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts, the University of Art and Design Helsinki UIAH, the Nordic School of Art in Kokkola, Finland, as well as in Sweden at the Royal University College of Fine Arts in Stockholm and in art academies in Umeå, Malmö, and Gothenburg.
