The iconic Finnish company Iittala has recently launched Aarre, a unique collection of mouth-blown decorative knobs, as a tribute to glass master Oiva Toikka.

The knobs are truly beautiful, they look like wall jewels!

Consisting of eight knobs in a variety of colors and shapes, the collection can be used to simply display on a wall, or to hang personal belongings – Because beyond aesthetics, the knobs are also functional! They can hold approximately 11 pounds, giving you new possibilities for displaying items and treasures that y have been previously kept unseen in cabinets or boxes.

From Iittala:

“The Aarre wall jewels collection is a tribute to the grand old master of Finnish glass, Professor Oiva Toikka. His beloved Birds by Toikka collection, and one of a kind career in glass art, inspired designers to create a concept for a unique, mouth-blown glass art collection.

This first Aarre collection is designed by renowned Finnish designers with whom Iittala has collaborated for a long time: Markku Salo, Anu Penttinen and Aalto+Aalto. Each designer explored a distinct theme in their design: Glass artist Markku Salo had his eyes on the cosmos, while glass artist Anu Penttinen looked at the richness of underwater life and transferred that to her colorful and clear style. Elina and Klaus Aalto, who work with many materials, researched the word flora as a source for inspiration.

The unique handprint of each glass blower, together with the unpredictability of glass as a material, results in subtle variations of color shades and details in objects – giving Aarre their unique charm.”
