Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin recently presented their invention at the Technical Fair in Stockholm. Hövding is a collar that the cyclist is wearing around his neck. The collar contains a folded airbag, which opens on impact and protects the cyclist’s head. Release mechanism is controlled by sensors that register abnormal movements of the rider in an accident.
For six years, Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin have been busy with the development of Hövding. Both studied industrial design, and the idea behind this unique airbag/helmet was born during their final project. Today, twelve people work full time with Hövding.
“We wanted to develop a protection for cyclists that take account of the requests we got in our investigations. The protection would include preserving the sense of freedom and not ruin your hairstyle” says Terese Alstin.
Hövding is available in many different styles and fabrics.
