The Danes succeed in creating gorgeous, enviable summerhouses. Here is another one spotted today in Danish magazine BoBedre.

From the road, the house looks like a closed black box. Get closer, and you’ll discover a beautiful retreat with a simple, but great architectural concept.

The house is surrounded by wood panels which double as solar shades to keep the interior cool and comfortable, while still allowing light to enter the house. When the large sliding doors are open, the house makes one with the large terrace toward the back garden, and the salty sea air fills every room, giving a true holiday feeling.

The owners built the gorgeous terrace themselves, with a practical outdoor kitchen with built-in grill, refrigerator and all. It is is built from the wood that was left over from the house. Clever!
